Substitute Van Der Sar has been defined MU

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar will retire after this season ends. The Red Devils have found a replacement.

MU assistant coach Rene Meulensteen ensure that Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg was the club's first choice as a replacement van der Sar.

"Stekelenburg is located in the top list to replace Edwin," said Meulensteen.

Stekelenburg is the Dutch national team goalkeeper, together with van der Sar first. Stekelenburg appearance at the 2010 World Cup is very good and brought his country to qualify for the final.

Besides Stekelenburg, MU had two other candidates. Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and David de Gea from Atletico Madrid will be an alternative if the negotiations with Ajax experience constraints.

"We used to talk a long time to discuss who should replace Edwin. Alex Ferguson and Edwin Stekelenburg has also been talking about."

Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan also revealed that his team was watching Porto goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
