JAC Sport, Rio de Janeiro - Indonesia joined in Group E in the third round of Pre-2014 World Cup Asian zone. Merah Putih teams are grouped with Iran, Qatar and Bahrain.
Results were obtained through a drawing held at Marina da Gloria, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sunday, July 31, 2011. Drawing for the region carried out by Brazilian legend, Zico and Liverpool midfielder who is also the Brazilian national team player, Lucas Leiva.
In the drawing, Indonesia in pots or seed the last four, are in Group E along with three-times Asian Cup winners Iran, and the 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar and Bahrain.
Indonesia must first match in Group E with a visit to Iran on September 2, 2011. After that the Friman Utina and friends will host when against Bahrain on September 6, 2011. Furthermore, Indonesia will host when against Qatar on October 11, 2011.
The fourth match, Indonesia will be treated to Qatar on November 11, 2011, after the turn of the host Indonesia when against Iran on 15 November 2011. And the last fight Garuda team will travel to Bahrain on February 29, 2012. The top two teams in Group E will move to the fourth round of the Pre 2014 World Cup Asian zone.
Two other teams from Southeast Asia, Singapore and Thailand, also got a formidable opponent. Singapore joined in Group A along with China, Jordan and Iraq. While Thailand is in Group D along with Australia, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Indonesia itself ensure the step into the third round after a 4-3 win in the second leg against Turkmenistan. Indonesia escaped with a 5-4 aggregate.
