Raul Meireles wins PFA award

Liverpool player, Raul Meireles was selected as the best player the fans choice of English Premier League (PFA Fans Player of the Year). Name of ex FC Porto midfielder beat the other nominees that is Fernando Torres, Samir Nasri, Dimitar Berbatov, and David Luiz.

Meireles became the third Liverpool player who could be won this award since held in 2001. Before him, the player the Reds earlier this award was Steven Gerrard in 2001 and 2009.

As reported by Sport Scotsman, Friday, April 22, 2011, Meireles had just bought from Porto in mid 2010 with around £ 11.5 million. The 28-year-old man was deliberately brought in to replace Javier Mascherano who moved to Barcelona.

As a form of appreciation, Meireles given back the number '4 'despite already owned by Alberto Aquilani. The last player called out to Juventus finally with the status of loan players.

Until near the end of 2010-11 season, Meireless already scored five goals from 29 matches in all competitions.
