"We are very happy for Higuian"

Jose Mourinho had a full plate of topics to discuss on Friday ahead of this weekend’s league match against Sporting Gijon. The Madridista coach commented on everything from the return of Higuain, the absences of Cristiano, Marcelo and Benzema, the effort put forth by Adebayor since his arrival and next week's Champions League match against Tottenham.

"Saturday's match against Sporting is more decisive than next week's against Tottenham because the latter is the best of two. If we don't win the first we still have a chance in the second. But it isn't as important as the Copa final because that is only one match that you will either win or lose a competition in."

"It will only get harder if we lose points at home. La Liga will be lost if we lose tomorrow. If we lose on Tuesday we can still win the following week. I cannot rest or bench players like Ozil, Di Maria or Carvalho. I cannot make any more changes."

"Not even the best forecasts could have predicted that Higuain would be ready to play so quickly. We are very happy for him. His recovery is an important and positive surprise. His rehab was a well-organized process. His commitment as well as that of the doctors, physiotherapists, recovery specialists... It's a great surprise because we may have as many as 15 matches left to play and he is an important addition. Regarding Cristiano, Marcelo and Benzema, they will only be available to play against Bilbao. That is what the reports that the medical staff say."

"Adebayor has had to work hard day after day in order to be available to his coach and he has done just that. When he has been on the bench, when he has started... He has gelled very well and we are all thrilled with his behavior."

"We are surely the youngest team in Europe right now, but we have a great, long future in store. I have a four-year contract. If the players, the top brass, the fans and I are happy, I have no reason to leave. I am never an obstacle, but always a solution."
