Stadium Not Ready, AFF U-23 Cup delayed

ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) to delay implementation of the AFF U-23 became in September 2011. Previously, the tournament will be held in Palembang is planned to be implemented in mid-July 2011.

This delay occurs at the request of Indonesia as the host. This is related to unpreparedness Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, Jakabaring as a venue.

"We've got reply from AFF to a letter what we sent yesterday, responding development of Jakabaring stadium," said Acting Secretary General of PSSI, Joko Driyono in the PSSI office, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 5, 2011.

"AFF delay approved the proposal (proposed Indonesia) and implemented in September and October," said Joko who call the organizing committee will hold a preparatory meeting on 31 July.

Joko added that with this delay, then the Jakabaring Stadium will remain the location of the tournament that followed these five ASEAN countries. Therefore, this delay will be used to fix Jakabaring Stadium as the host.

AFF U-23 tournament which will be a warm-up ahead of the 2011 SEA Games scheduled to be followed by five Southeast Asian countries, namely Indonesia as the host, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar and Timor Leste.
