PSSI secretary general, Tri Goestoro declared a AFF U23 Cup will be postponed until October 2011. This competitiion was postponed is due to the Bung Karno Stadium in September was in the process of renovation.
"The implementation of the AFF U23 Cup back to October. Because the Bung Karno manager admitted the difficulty if the event was held in September. Since the stadium renovation is still in order," said Tri in PSSI's office, Friday, July 22, 2011.
However, the exact date of implementation, Tri admitted his side will still conduct prior consultation with the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).
"We will consult first meeting with AFF. Certainty the exact date of implementation will be discussed at a meeting with Consul AFF meeting in Kuala Lumpur together, 31 coming tomorrow," said Tri.
The event is followed by five countries namely Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, and Timor Leste is considered a warm-up match ahead of the implementation of the SEA Games in November.
Initially, the AFF U23 Cup plans held in July at the Stadium Jakabaring, Palembang. However, Jakabaring Stadium pleaded not ready to hold the event because it is still in the grass field repairs.
