Special Rules of Fasting in the German League
JAC Sport, German - German League or the Bundesliga will start rolling this Friday, August 5, 2011. This makes the problem of Muslim players who want to run the fasting in Ramadan.
Franck Ribery, Bayern Munich midfielder who had converted to Islam since 2002 chose to fast during training but not when his club played. Hamburg players do different things, Anis Ben Hatira who remained steadfast do it when playing.
Month of Ramadan which took place in August is not the ideal time to fast for athletes in Germany. Moreover, they need to fast when the sun is hot. For this reason the Central Council of Muslims in Germany (ZMD) gives player decisions that can help the Muslims in Ramadan.
Chairman of the ZMD, Aimen Mazyek speaking at the German Press Council, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 that the player can change fasting in the other day when not competing.
"We believe that fasting during Ramadan should also consider physical activity," said Mazyek.
Next Mazyek submit their own decisions on whether a player is worth more than the sport over religious beliefs, and whether they will disappoint the club and teammates because of the energy depleted during fasting.
"A question of conscience for the players and the team," said Mazyek.
The decision to fasting or not often being debated in the German League. Two years ago the club Division II, SSV Frankfut give warning to the three players who caught fast during Ramadan without permission of the club.
The club then gets negative criticism and make other clubs to be careful. With such cases, ZMD reached an agreement with the German Football Federation (DFB) and the federation league (DFL) last year in which the player can not fast when playing. The decision was welcomed by ZMD Muslim players in the Bundesliga.
"I try to fast during Ramadan in the past. But that is not in accordance with the principles for achieving good performance in football, "said the Bayer Leverkusen player, Omar Topak.
As with teammate Topak, Karim Bellarabi yan decide to decide to change fast in the other day.
Meanwhile Hertha Berlin player, Tuney Torum had fasted a whole month of last season. But apparently he almost fainted while doing it and give up, do not fast anymore.
"I decided not to do it again. But I still respect the players who remain abstinent, "said Torum.
Torum say a name Hamburg player, Ben-Hatira who remain abstinent when playing. That means Hatira will to do Bundesliga Competition against Borussia Dortmund, Friday, August 5, 2011 in a state of fasting.
But Ben-Hatira can break during recess, because the kick off the second round began at 20:30 local time during maghrib prayer has been resounding.
